The event raised awareness of Chile's progress in implementing Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement and demonstrated how carbon credits can catalyse short-term investment in mitigation activities.

The KliK Foundation was pleased to participate in the subsequent panel discussion. Matías Manríquez, General Manager Chile at the KliK Foundation, highlighted the importance of a strong ecosystem and well-coordinated communication among activity developers, validators, activity owners, and competent institutional counterparties, noting that the Foundation has supported the processes from the outset to secure efficient authorisation processes for high integrity mitigation activities.

Chile’s announcement that its Article 6 committee approved four greenhouse gas mitigation activities one day before and will proceed with the signing of Letters of Authorisation (LoA) scheduled for February 2026 marks an important step toward the activities’ authorisation and the transition to the implementation phase. These activities have been developed under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and the Implementation Agreement between the Swiss Federal Council and the Government of the Republic of Chile, and they are now also awaiting Switzerland’s Letters of Authorisation. The authorisations will form the basis for financial support from the KliK Foundation and are therefore highly awaited by all stakeholders involved.

Participants of the seminar were Maximiliano Proaño Ugalde, Undersecretary for the Environment, Charlotte Bleisch, Swiss Ambassador of Switzerland to Chile, Sone Kenko, Ambassador of Japan to Chile, and José Ignacio Escobar, CEO of Colbún.
