Dear newsletter subscribers

The governments of Peru and Switzerland have reached a landmark in their planned cooperation to mitigate climate change. The Formal Dialogue conducted over the course of this past year has led to a joint legal text of a bilateral agreement, with a signature in view by the middle of next year. A published summary of the agreement details its provisions.

On 28 November, the governments of Peru and Switzerland published a joint statement on the progress reached in their Formal Dialogue. The Dialogue was established between Peru and Switzerland at the UN climate talks in 2018 (COP24) and led to a series of bilateral talks throughout 2019. At the fifth Formal Dialogue meeting, held on 15 and 16 October, an advanced legal text of the agreement was outlined.

Second Call for Proposal

Only last week, the second call for proposals of the KliK foundation was opened for the 94 registered private organizations. The establishment of a bilateral agreement with Switzerland is a prerequisite for the KliK foundation to support activities in a foreign country. The agreement in Peru thus not only will enable the support of activities in Peru, but also help to push on further agreements with other countries that are already in talk with Switzerland.
