The 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is taking place at Expo City Dubai.
The Swiss Federal Office for the Environment FOEN together with the KliK Foundation will host a COP28 Side Event with focus on national frameworks as basis for successful Article 6 implementation. The presentation of the major achievements of Switzerland’s partner countries in implementing Article 6 can serve as an opportunity to gain information and inspiration on experiences and lessons learned.
During the conference, the KliK Foundation team is interested in discussing the development of climate protection activities under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement in countries that have signed a bilateral climate agreement or are in active negotiations with Switzerland. We will explain the requirements for financial support and address opportunities and needs of governmental actors and the private sector. The KliK Foundation looks forward to establishing new contacts with programme developers and technology providers.

Morocco’s experience in international carbon markets: Readiness and operationalisation of Article 6
The side event aims to shed light on the experiences and lessons learned from Morocco on the development of international carbon markets. It will delve into the evolution of Article 6 governance, including Article 6 roadmap and institutional infrastructure, and explore the pivotal role of Article 6 in supporting NDC planning and implementation.
Additionally, the workshop will address the policy crediting under Article 6 aiming at accelerating mitigation action required to achieve the Paris targets. Launching new methodologies with live examples from countries, we will show how this innovative approach ensures environmental integrity to create transformational change at a national scale.

Avoiding 0.1 degrees Celsius with «Green» Split Air Conditioners
This Side Event will present “Green” split ACs using the natural refrigerant R290, being very energy efficient. R290 is ozone, climate and environmentally friendly: compared to synthetic refrigerants (F-gases and PFAS), it has a very low global warming potential and no toxic breakdown products. Incentivising stakeholders with sustainable financing instruments which considers either climate or carbon finance (Article 6) under the Paris Agreement can accelerate the market introduction of “Green” ACs.

Several countries are currently establishing their national Article 6 frameworks and engage in bilateral cooperation under Art. 6.2 PA with Switzerland.
